4-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzene-1,2-diamine; CAS No.: 157590-59-5; 4-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzene-1,2-diamine. PROPERTIES: This chloro-trifluoromethyl-substituted diamine features molecular formula C?H?ClF?N? with molecular weight 205.63 g/mol. Exists as a crystalline solid. Soluble in polar aprotic solvents like DMF and DMSO. Melting point approximately 60-65 C. Exhibits IR absorption for amine groups. Thermogravimetric analysis shows decomposition above 180 C under nitrogen. Store at 2-8 C in sealed containers. May cause skin irritation and eye damage. APPLICATIONS: As a trifluoromethyl-substituted diamine, 4-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzene-1,2-diamine is used in sulfa drug synthesis. The amine groups undergo diazotization and coupling reactions to form bioactive azo derivatives. Also used in fluorescent probe synthesis, enabling conjugation via reductive amination. In materials science, it enhances thermal stability in polyurethane foams due to chloro and trifluoromethyl substituents.
